The only things we cannot offer is exterior paining above one floor, ceilings over twice height and areas that may be considered dangerous. We also cannot move large heavy furniture that may cause injury to move on our own, and we do not move breakables or fragile items to limit chances of us breaking things, but we will help you move anything else that might be in the way.
Stripping, Filling and Wall Prep
Preparation is the key to a great finish and efficient, waste-less decorating. Using the highest quality dust and paint cover sheets, and many of them, I can ensure your valuables are kept pristine. I also have specialised equipment such as radiator removal tools, specialised brush and rollers, sander and an electric wallpaper stripper. When preparing walls, such as wallpaper removal, if you do not remove the old wallpaper properly, the new paper you replace it with will never look professionally completed. Good preparation will lead to a good finish.
Wallpapering
Wallpapering can be tricky, especially in tight corners, wallpapering round windows and applying wallpaper on angles like up the stairs. That is why its a good idea to turn to a professional to get it right and make your walls look their best. If you hang wallpaper wrong or have lots of scrap, the extra cost could easily exceed the cost for a decorator, who could of done a better job. I have done a lot of wallpapering so far and am very confident with awkward walls. I use specialist equipment to strip any old wallpaper from the plaster, which in itself can be a long, arduous task with many problems if completing yourself.
Painting
Paint can be messy. Very messy. Getting an even, un-patchy finish, without using a lot of wasteful paint, takes skill and a good eye. Using the right kind of painting tool, and the right technique to apply the specific paint is essential. The wrong paint, wrong technique or wrong paint brush could lead to a mistake that can take a long time, and money, to rectify. Painting ceilings and using paint effects can also be a handful so if you are not confident doing this, turning to someone with experience would certainly be wise.
Cutting In
Cutting in (Painting edges, corners and other straight lines) is tricky and requires a steady hand and flawless techniques. Making sure you miss objects in your home such as dado rails, sconce’s, shelves, window frames and ceilings can be hard work. Getting this right can only be done through experience, A professional painter and decorator, including myself, will be required to do cutting in on every job they do, so cutting in with a paintbrush, is second nature.
Glossing
Glossing can be daunting for anyone, especially with skirting boards running along carpet. The wrong technique can lead to mishaps, stains and poor finishes with drips on the face of the paint. Gloss is an oil based paint, which is why it repels water an grime better than water based emulsions, but because its an oil based paint it isn’t easily cleaned. Making sure you get it right first time is crucial and preparing the surface for new gloss is very important.
Woodstain, Varnish and Woodcare
Woodcare has to be done correctly, same as gloss, to avoid drips. Doors, banisters and handrails may need treatment often to look pristine. Sanding down all the old layer of varnish first ensures the woodstain or oil u apply over it absorbs into the wood, and covers evenly. The best results would be using the same stain, or close to it, year on year as mixing stains over a long period of time can look scruffy. Staining wood close to wallpapered edges can often lead to discolouration of the wallpaper so again a steady hand and practice is needed to protect the decor around the wooden areas.
